This project is still evolving into what it wants to become. I do have a vision of seeing them grouped together, side by side. I'll need a lot of wall. I can say that it has become a personal journey through family history, fact and fiction. I am working from family photographs that are mostly from my own collection. Here and there, however, I find a photo from someone's collection that is just too good to pass up. I chose watercolor and paper to work with in translating from photo to painted image as it seemed I could attain a certain quality - as though it too might fade away. In fact, I have been known to run the painting under a blast of water to fade the image down. Beet juice was probably the most interesting liquid to paint with. An experiment. I thought that it looked like blood when first applied and have learned that it is not a stable medium. It fades.
